1800 hours Gate Room Lost City of Akrotiri< Continued from the SGC >A blinding flash of light filled the gate room of Akrotiri, and when it faded a moment later, what had been empty space was now filled with the task force personnel send from Earth. They’d spent three weeks journeying on the massive super carrier USS Thor, and now they were here to help the expedition get back on its feet.
Troy looked around the gate room, visions of the past flooding back to him. Seven years was a long time to be away.
Akrotiri was broadly of a similar design inside and out to other Ancient city-ships such as Atlantis. But there was some noticeable differences. On the outside Akrotiri was a quarter of the size of the larger Atlantis, and had been left in the Delian Galaxy as a listening post to monitor the activities of the Olympians. Interior-wise there was a slight but noticeable Greek influence to the architecture, which includes rounded columns in the Athenian tradition and copious amounts of what looked to be white marble, but was actually a metal invented by the Ancients with amazing properties not seen back on Earth.
But at the moment the biggest difference between Atlantis was not in the construction of the city-ship, but rather, the destruction.
Even though it had been weeks since the attack by Hades, the signs of battle were still clear. Windows were smashed, walls were buckling, and rough repairs had been made to hold roofing tiles in place. Carbon scorching and bullet holes all around were stark reminders of the battle fought between the expedition and the forces of Hades. A number of personnel working the Stargate controls were still in slings and bandages.
These people really needed the task force's help.
“Alright, let’s get to work,” Troy announced. “Infirmary is that way, central engineering is that way - help out where you can. Security details are still sweeping the base - if you want to volunteer speak with McKinnon.”
Adjusting his backpack, Troy starting to make his way up the stairs and toward his old office. His first call of business was to pay the base commander a visit and see how they were faring. < Tag Adam "Sly" Collier , Alec Styles , Ayden "Ghost" Sheppard , Andy Buchanan , Cara Coyle , Elizabeth "Beth" Houghton , Erik Sorensen , Justin Anderson , Kata Harris , Kieran "Bear" O'Shea , Kimberly "Kim" McKinnon , Koren Telion , Marah "Tonobi" Law , Nolen "Dragon" Syaria , Robert "Jackal" Walker , @adaheart , Stephanie Martin , Travis "Wizard" Oxford , Victoria Ramel & Will O'Malley >

1800 hoursGate RoomLost City of AkrotiriAfter a lengthy trip aboard the USS Thor, Ayden was ready to get her feet back on solid ground. She had spent the past few weeks digging up every ounce of research that she could find on the Olympians and more importantly, Hades. While she had spent nearly three years in the Delian Galaxy she knew there was plenty of information that they still hadn't learned, so by compiling everything from old mission reports she was able to find out a bit more than they had known earlier.
When they were beamed from the ship to the city, Ayden blinked a few times, her eyes adjusting to the lighting difference and she looked around, her crystal blue eyes scanning the ruined city. It was surprising that the few personnel that were around had survived what appeared to be a such a horrible attack. They were fighters, and more importantly, survivors, all of them were.
She nodded at Troy's words and fell into step behind him, if there was one thing she needed to do it was get some information from the base commander - see what exactly had happened since some of the expedition members came through the gate at the SGC, and more importantly, see if they had dug up any information on their attackers. < Tag: All >

1800 hoursGate RoomLost City of AkrotiriThree weeks stuck on the USS Thor was not exactly Kieran's thought of a good time. He wasn't meant to be cooped up for so long and while the brains worked on finding out information on Hades, put together plans to find him, and focused on all the intricate details that went into an operation such as this Kieran found himself simply there. He felt useless to the rest of the team; he was, after all, an enlisted Royal Marine, whose job was to point and shoot (not really but he liked to joke that's all they needed him for). His skills were better used in a battle than in a think tank session and he found himself meticulously cleaning every weapon he could get his hands on and shuffling through inventory time and time again to make sure they had everything. When he wasn't in the armory aboard the ship he had been in the gym, putting his attention into making sure he stayed in tip-top shape. Exciting, wasn't it?
Once the 'rescue crew' was beamed aboard the city, Kieran's eyes adjusted to the low light and he looked around at the ruined remains of what he called home for so many years. The attack had destroyed what had once been a beautiful Ancient City and he let out a heavy sigh of frustration. How could they had not seen this coming? Was there more he could have done? There had been so many left behind, so many that could have died. He adjusted the weapon that was clipped to the front of his vest and he stepped away from the larger group as he scanned the walls, taking in all the damage that had occurred. There was dried blood on the floors and walls that someone had tried to scrub out but to no avail. Who knows how many had died after the gate was damaged.
He heard the General's words and nodded his head, security sweeps were a good start. When he wasn't off-world he was part of the security detail on Akrotiri, so falling back into his old ways would be a good start. He knew this city better than anyone. His gaze landed on McKinnon and he walked over, his back straight and shoulders back, "Colonel, requesting permission to join the security team once again." He requested, his hands tightening on his weapon as he waited for a response. He wanted to help, he needed to help. This had been his city as it had been hers. < Tag: Kimberly "Kim" McKinnon + All >

1800 hours Gate Room Lost City of AkrotiriAs the momentary nothingness of 'gate travel began to phase into reality once again, Koren caught his breath from where he left it on Earth and surveyed the room, instantly having two impressions; sadness and comfort. Sadness because the once-great city was almost entirely rubble and ruins, with so much of the infrastructure crumble under its own weight and the carbon scoring and impact craters, but also comfort because this was Koren's first off-world land-based post, granted only for debrief and transport back to Earth. Koren's concern grew as he saw the level of destruction and jerry-rigging that was going on just to establish a gate connection. There was even a concern that the wormhole would destabilize if open for long enough and overload the severely depleted ZPMs, so Koren continued down the ramp quickly, turning around to assess the first-responders. A capable crew, made up of the best (still active) old Delta members, current members who had been on earth for leave, on the next ship out to Delta, or the able-bodied dislocated by the attack, and the volunteers whom the SGC and it's affiliates could spare. “Alright, let’s get to work,” Troy announced. “Infirmary is that way, central engineering is that way - help out where you can. Security details are still sweeping the base - if you want to volunteer speak with McKinnon.” "Task Group Red, form on me," Koren called by habit, kicking himself for using pilot lingo on-site and looking around the room for his team. " Those who wish to join the security team, speak up now. Everyone else, with me to central engineering."<TAG: Nolen "Dragon" Syaria , Stephanie Martin , Victoria Ramel , Andy Buchanan , @adaheart , Justin Anderson > OOC: second post coming soon

1800 hours Gate Room Lost City of AkrotiriThe trip to the Delian Galaxy hadn't been too interesting for the young airman, while he was interested in the advanced technology he couldn't quite understand all of it, he did however manage to pass the time talking about the different weapons systems on board and getting up to speed with the rest of the other volunteers who didn't have experience in dealing with this enemy, that had taken up enough time along with re qualifying on every personal weapon he could get his hand on. Getting ready to beam down he'd gotten his kit, repairing the base or fixing a system was beyond his skill set, but he was sure they'd find something to do, stand guard or move rubble he wasn't sure which one he preferred at this point. Beamed down he took in the surroundings, he'd seen his fair share of file photos and currently it really didn't look like that at all, the walls and floor had been redecorated with bullets holes, energy weapon scorch marks and a fair amount of blood. He listened in first to Major General Loveridge telling them where important places where and then where to volunteer for security patrols, that suited him. He made his way over to his group leader, and listen to the Major's instructions. "Task Group Red, form on me, Those who wish to join the security team, speak up now. Everyone else, with me to central engineering." Justin nodded. "I'll go make myself useful with the security team if you don't mind sir." With that he made his way over to someone he'd seen a fair amount on the ship bud hadn't talked to, he'd looked even more bored than him. He waited for the Irishman to finish before quickly interjecting, no need to waste time. "Ma'am, Permission to join the security teams also."<TAG:Koren Telion , Kimberly "Kim" McKinnon , Kieran "Bear" O'Shea >

1800 Gate Room City of AkrotiriIn all honesty, Cara was expecting the devastation of the base, but what she hadn't anticipated were survivors. Mostly because she would often think 'if I were the bad guy, I would just kill everyone'. She left the 'hoping' to other people while she thought things through logically. You can't be disappointed if you don't set your hopes too high, you can only be pleasantly surprised.
Cara wasn't all too familiar with the City of Akrotiri, they had found the city after she left the expedition. The regret pained her as she thought on all the lost time she never had in this city. She had been very familiar with Atlantis, after it landed on Earth years before, but Cara also had the last 3 weeks to delve into the expedition files, mostly those of the science teams, to get her bearings. It also distracted her from the fact that she was off Earth....and there was no wi-fi. On the plus side, there were no more emails for annoying scientists.
It had been General Carter that convinced her to volunteer for the Task Force. The General and former mentor had overheard Cara making a phone call arranging a flight to Switzerland. Carter said that this jumping around from research facility to research facility was hampering her potential, that she had too great a mind to waste on trivial research projects. "Stop playing it safe." she told Cara. She thought about things for a whole day before deciding that maybe it was time to take some risks. It was true that she wasn't happy with her work anymore and was just going through the motions really. So she canceled her flight and called various people to tell them she was going off world for awhile.....deal with it.
Cara looked around the Gate Room after they beamed down. She saw some of the survivors, looking utterly broken. She glanced behind to look at the Stargate, one of her main focuses. It looked intact, nothing physically wrong with it from what she could see.
“Alright, let’s get to work,” Troy announced. “Infirmary is that way, central engineering is that way - help out where you can. Security details are still sweeping the base - if you want to volunteer speak with McKinnon.”
Several people spoke up about wanting to help with security and sweeping the base. Cara started up the stairs after Troy and Ayden. ".... Everyone else, with me to central engineering." she turned her head to see who was saying something about going to engineering. It was a newly promoted Major, if only she remembered his name....3 weeks on a ship be damned.
"Keep me informed of what you find in engineering, Major." she requested calling out from the stairs, "I'll coordinate with you from the Control Room." She continued up the stairs. <tag Troy Loveridge , Ayden "Ghost" Sheppard , Koren Telion and others>

1800 Gate Room City of Akrotiri
At least Cowden hadn't made a appearance, if he had, results would not have been favorable. Her reaction to him being there might give Robert Oxford a run for his money and give him a rival. When her buttons were pushed, Kim wasn't the nicest person in the galaxy. With the small security that Delta could offer at the given moment of the attack, had gone to keeping Loveridge and Walker safe. She had without making obvious send two of them towards the two flag officers. One for each. It was with regret that was all she could offer for now. She didn't need a status report to know what was going on. While she left Troy to do as he saw fit, after all one did not order the General. She moved further out as Captain Adrian Hendricks started talking mile a minute giving her updates on what had happened so far. It was not painting a pretty picture. Nor was the look around the place she called home. With a sigh she turned to see O'Shea approaching her. There was one man she could count to get it done and done right, " Granted,Sergeant. You know the drill," she told him, " This time lets sweep all the areas extra thoroughly. I don't want to see nasty surprises popping out." The base itself had taken quite a beating from the enemy's attacks. " Any injured found are to be send back to infirmary ASAP." As she had finished telling O'Shea, " Granted, Airman, follow Sergeant's lead." It was nice to see people willing wanting to help. Delta could use help from the new and old faces alike. She had missed being here. " Will," she called to O'Malley, " Infirmary could use extra hands. Can you lend them a hand?" He was here for that too wasn't he? She wondered, if not, they could really use a hand. ~*~
He had left the place not that long ago and in excellent shape if he recalled correctly. Seeing the mess Hades had made ticked him off. They hadn't this bad of a battle on Delta since Troy had ordered a full scale attack. Of course it wasn't any worse then Banasura's first attack on the Vedas base from orbit. He decided to join Loveridge and Sheppard in seeing the Base Commander NID Agent Mark Wright*, who had taken over from Agent Charlotte Barnes a year before he had moved to Project Vedas. The two hadn't seen eye to eye at first but had learnt to get along. Travis could tolerate the man to the point where he didn't feel like zatting him. " Wright is or can be a little temperamental. I doubt this is sitting well with him. All in all he ain't that bad." " About damn time you showed your face Oxford. I was thinking you totally high tailed to Vedas Project." A man in his early 50's with blond yet graying hair. His nose supported a reading glassing which were resting on the bridge. His words caused Travis to chuckled, " Wright," he greeted the man, " Major General Troy Loveridge and Agent Ayden Sheppard. Associate Director Mark Wright of NID." " Actually that would be Deputy Director Mark Wright, General, Agent Sheppard." And motioned the trio inside.

1800Gate RoomLost City of AkrotiriHe'd been away for a long time and at the same time, it felt like he'd never left. The whole thing was becoming decidedly surreal, quite honestly. From the moment Andy Buchanan had been transferred to the Stargate programme, oh so many years ago, he'd taken everything in his stride. There was a calmness and unflappability to him that often rubbed off on those around him. He was definitely the man to have around in an emergency situation. As long as fire extinguishers weren't part of the equation. It'd not taken much for him to be convinced to go back out in the field. All the months of mostly sitting at a workbench over in Area 51 had left him feeling sluggish and, much to his chagrin and more than a little embarrassment, he had discovered the need for a new notch on his belt. He made a mental note to get himself back into shape sooner rather than later. "Task Group Red, form on me. Those who wish to join the security team, speak up now. Everyone else, with me to central engineering.""Right you are," said Andy, then checked himself. "Sir, yes sir?" The way his voice rose slightly at the end to make it a hesitant question rather than an assertive statement suggested that he was still testing the waters in this new command structure. He had never had a problem being commanded - he'd always considered himself a follower rather than a leader and was more than happy that the burden of command was on someone else's shoulders. "Happy to go to central engineering," he added, cheerfully. "It's my second home, really."<TAG: Nolen "Dragon" Syaria, Stephanie Martin, Victoria Ramel, Koren Telion, @adaheart, Justin Anderson>

1800 hours Gate Room Lost City of Akrotiri
Shauna could hardly believe her eyes, even with the amount of damage, she was still in awe and felt like a kid in a candy shop. If anything it made her feel like a ant among humans. The design and structure was beyond belief. As much as she loved been up beyond the sky, it was nice to have her feet back on the ground.
The trip had been long and boring. She had spent most of her spare time going over the workings of the craft she'd fly and with luck not be caught out if the worst happened did happen. But now they were here on another world god knows were. She was half tempted to just wander of and explore. But there was a mission at hand, this was not a time to be smiling and have g a happy face. Things had gone bad for the team here, if anything she was surprised some people were still alive. She took the smile off her face and remained focused
Under her own breath she whispered,
" This place is amazing,"
A voice came out from across the room, "Task Group Red, form on me, Those who wish to join the security team, speak up now. Everyone else, with me to central engineering."
Realizing it was her commanding officer she made her way over to him, ready for his command. There was one question that bugged her, that she just had to ask Koren.
" Sir, I have a question, those who attacked this place, it wasn't just an attack was it. it was a warning was it !"

1801 Hours Gate Room Lost City of AkrotiriThe wait to get back home had been the worst, along with some of his predictions, one's he'd kept to himself. even only having been in the city a few months he started to comfortable with the people and the surroundings in general, he wasn't sure what they'd find he was sure the city would be quite damaged but finding out who had and hadn't survived would be painful. The trip itself had been both interesting and productive, they'd gotten everything they could think of to help put the city and the expedition back together again along with a healthy increase in security personnel. Beaming down to the city he took a breath as he looked around, he locked eyes with one of the technicians in control room, a face he remembered. He gave her a weak smile, they probably understood why, he wasn't sure but being taken back through the 'Gate probably saved his life, at least in his mind. Stepping out from the group as it began to move he listened first to Loveridge then someone else, they were heading to engineering, somewhere he'd probably be best suited. "An extra pairs of eyes and hand's couldn't hurt." He offered to Major Telion <TAG:Koren Telion, + Task Group Red.>
