Background Information
Personal History:
Kieran was born to a small family in Ireland. His father, a decorated Royal Marines Commando, and his mother, an elementary school teacher, were wonderful role models to the young man and his sister, but despite that Kieran grew up a bit rough around the edges. He was always the child to get into fights on the playground, run of to cause some trouble, and go missing for hours at a time while he explored the countryside. His parents, his mother especially, tried to rid him of the habits early on but to no avail. He had always been the adventurous type, often found chatting up police officers or firefighters about their jobs whenever they saw them, and was the first to greet his father and ask about work when he came back from his tours.Family:
As he aged, Kieran's curiosity never once left him. In fact, it simply grew worse. He thought he was invincible and spent many nights in the ER after some ill-thought out stunt went wrong and his poor mother was left to patch him up and threaten to tell his father (which she never did). When his younger sister, Riley, was born, Kieran took to her immediately and would not leave her side. Instead of wandering off outside, their mother often found him curled up beside her crib or inside of it, and when questioned, would tell her that he had to protect Riley since dad was gone. The bond between the two simply grew as they got older, and Riley often could not sleep without her brother rocking her to sleep.
Kieran knew from a young age that he wanted to join the service, follow in his father's footsteps, and that intense desire to serve only grew stronger the older he got. When he was sixteen his father was killed in action, during a top secret mission that Kieran still doesn't know the circumstances around. All he remembers is the two well-dressed men coming to his family's door to break the news. Kieran didn't stick around for it, the moment he saw them driving up to the farmhouse he slipped out the back and ran off, thinking that if he didn't hear what they said then it couldn't possibly be true. This, of course, was only a lie he told himself to make it through the next few days, but when his father's funeral came around his death hit him full force, and the moment he could he signed up to join the Royal Marines, his rage driving him forward to revenge his father's death.
This attitude, of course, had no place in the military. While the physical aspect of basic training was next to no match for him, psychologically it wore him down, broke him of his tough guy demeanor when he was alone. Letters from home were all that got him through this tough time, and soon he was able to pull himself together completely to focus on the task at hand. He soon graduated the top of his class and was able to move onto the next phase in his life. His heart had always been set on following his father's footsteps, so naturally Commando training was next on his list. Those months he spent focused on training were grueling and completely tore apart the boy he grew up as and created a new being entirely, a strong, well rounded, focused and determined man; A war machine.
During his first tour of duty, Kieran lost one of his brothers, a man by the name of Kyle that he had went through training with. It was a tragedy; a roadside bomb that his friend stood no chance against. Kyle had been far enough from the bomb that he wasn't blown to bits, and the moment it went off Kieran ran right to him and tried to pull him from the flames, causing his own skin to burn in the process. Despite the rescue, Kyle succumbed to his injuries a couple of days later in the infirmary. Kieran is left with burn scars along one of his hands and arms to remind him of that day and the pain that came from it.
Kieran is the first to volunteer for any extra schooling he can get. And has received a bachelor's degree in Psychology during his time in the service. After his two years of General Marine duties he began to focus on specialty courses to further his career. He has completed Assault training and Mountain Leadership training, with a focus in his marksman abilities. He is one of the best shots of his class, if not the RM as a whole, and has often thought of continuing forward as a sniper, but fate had other plans for him.
After his completion of his Mountain Leadership training course, Kieran was approached by a Top Secret Organization known as the Stargate Program and offered a position. He, of course, accepted, and has spent the last few years of his time serving working for the Stargate Program. It was nothing like he could ever dream of, and his dreams of becoming a sniper were put on the back burner, his attention turning to the vast galaxies and planets he could explore from a gate made by aliens. The whole concept of the Stargate Program makes his head spin, but he would never again question how it works exactly because he made that mistake once...only once.

Personality:
Kieran has always been known as a jolly man. He's the type that can crack a joke when the world around him is (literally) going up in flames. He feels that humor is the best option for any scenario and oftentimes his sarcasm gets the best of him. He has been known to take jokes one step too far on many occasions but he never means any real harm.
Despite his sarcasm, he is a very calm and professional man. He knows when it's time to buckle down and get the job done and will stop at nothing to make sure that job is completed to the best of his ability. Often times in his line of work there is no room for error, so he has made sure that the methods he uses to get a job done will be as flawless as possible.
He is extremely protective of his family and his team members, and will often put himself in harms way to see that they are safe. Once you're part of his life, a member of his team, he will consider you family and will give you the coat off of his back. Kieran's callsign came from his general state of being outside of missions; he's a compassionate, happy guy, who looks like he could kill you (and can, multiple ways), but he's a humble guy who gives really good hugs.
He's a gentleman and chivalrous, thanks to his upbringing by his mother and his younger sister. Seeing how men treated both opened his eyes to the world of how women are often looked down upon or treated differently, and makes it a point to pull chairs out for women, offer them his seat, or step in when another man is getting out of sorts at a bar. He has no problem putting his neck out there to protect women, but he is definitely not a knight in shining armor.
Years in the military have cooled this once hot-headed Irishman of his temper. While on occasions it still rises up, it is nowhere near as bad as it used to be. Before the smallest inconvenience could cause his blood to boil. When he was younger, Kieran was often known as the brawler in his school, and a lot of his time was spent being scolded in the headmaster's office for once again going after a kid that he shouldn't have, with his only defense often being 'he started it'. He has since moved past that phase of his life, and while he is more than willing to jump into a brawl if it's needed, he tends to avoid them and saves his anger for the battlefield. He is, however, still the man that will volunteer for any mission first, and has made it a point to make his superiors know that.

Roleplay Example:
"Get out of the bloody way!" Kieran's voice rang through the air as he pushed a fellow Marine to the side and rushed to the rubble on the side of the road. The explosion had caused a fire, and his only concern was getting his friend out from under the debris. His hands frantically grabbed at what debris he could move and he tossed it to the side, the ringing in his ears muffling all other sounds around him as his heart pounded in his ears. Sweat dripped from his brow and he quickly wiped it away, his gaze frantically traveling over the debris in search of his brother.
That's when he spotted him, just barely breathing, blood rushing from a wound in his head and the flames getting closer. Kieran did the only thing he could think of and moved between Kyle and the flames as he pulled him from under the rubble. His friend was still breathing, still alive, that meant he could get him the help he needed and hopefully save his life. As he dragged him away, the direction of the wind changed, causing the flames that weren't far from him to catch his sleeve and glove on fire. Kieran growled out in pain but continued to pull his friend across the sand and to safety before he patted the flame out, hissing at the pain that stung his arm.
The trip back to base was long, drawn out, almost as if it were in slow motion, and Kieran refused to accept any treatment for his burns as he stayed beside his friend, holding his hand tight. He wiped at his brow once more and continued to talk to Kyle, trying to wake up from the state he was in. He had never felt so helpless in his life. If only he could do something. If only he could switch places with him. Kyle had pulled him through so much, yet Kieran couldn't save him from his pain.
