Background Information
Personal History:
Born to Steven and Dana Ashwood in London, England. Kim was her parent’s only child. Her father was a scientific officer for MI5, her mother language interpreter to the UN, which meant she was away from home a lot.
As a child she had a close relationship with her mother despite Dana not being around much. Finding out at the age of 12 that mother had cancer, Kim was distraughted, shedding herself all her girly personality in order to be strong for both her parents, much to her mother’s heartbreak. It wasn’t long after that she realized that she wasn’t your average teenager. She preferred the local sports center for kickboxing than to the shopping and all the girly stuff.
Her mother’s battle with cancer lasted three years. Losing her mother at the age of 15, Kim nearly lost the sight of her dreams, only leaving them as dim hope for survival. During the first six months of after her mother’s but it also meant that her relationship with her father became strong once Steven quit his job and learned to cope with life without Dana. With a scientist as a father, her knowledge in physics made her top of the science class. Earning her honors in that subject, however, after leaving school, she didn’t follow in her father’s footsteps, as he had wanted but he encouraged her to follow her childhood dream to join the air force instead. One she lost the sight of three years previously.
Feeling she needed a drastic change and to start healing, Kim moved to America a year later and joined the USAF. Hating herself for leaving her father behind but she knew she had to break away from him and live her own life knowing he had depended on her since he quit his job. Once she gained the respect and admiration of her fellow officers as a lieutenant and getting transferred to SGC once they saw, she had what it took to be on SGC. She gained the rank of a Captain not long after she joined SGC.
During the years of Delta, she had seen a lot and changed. Professionally as well personally. Being out there had done one thing she hadn't considered. It saved her marriage; from the brink of a divorce and had two children while serving. But it also had open doors that she think had been possible. Going from a Captain to Lt Colonel while serving Delta. Like others she had also lost few people under her and forced to leave Jerry Garcia behind during a mission. It was something she never openly admitted outright. When Colonel Oxford went to Project Vedas she had in charge to take the reins from him as the XO of the expedition. It had been big shoes to fill. Like Kepler and Loverigde before him, he had made things seem smooth. When she had taken over, they had been anything but that. Given she still held the spot, she must be doing something right.
Now, she was being pulled by her former CO, Troy Loveridge for a reunion of sort she was would leave a mark as well.
Family:
Father: Steven Ashwood
Mother: Dana Ashwood (deceased)
Siblings: none
Marital Status: Married; husband - Colonel Lance “Greasegun” McKinnon (USAF); Married since 1997
Children: Daughter: Geraldine Francine Delta McKinnon; born September 2007
Son: William Rhys McKinnon; born Aug 2011
Personality: Tough and edged with a wise mouth to match her mood at times. Kim had become like this after losing her mother. But the tough exterior had served her well to survive the harsh environment of the military life later the Delta expedition as well her SEALs Team CO. With her wise mouth she might give you what you want to hear, she isn't the one to sugarcoat anything. What you see is what you get.
Despite her tough side, she is also open and soft with those who earn her trust and loyalty. Two things she doesn't part with easily. When she does, it is forever, unless shattered. She would not hesitate to place her life on the line for those she cares about and has done that on more occasions then she cared to count.
Being a workaholic, her social skills still aren't up to par, but they are way better then they used to be. Talking to her children's friends mothers happens to be just as awkward as it was going to a party with her husband and talking to others. At least she didn't fidget over minor stuff these days unless it was reports.

Roleplay Example:
Why was she the one sent to convince Jerry Garcia to join the Delta members again? She wondered she turned down the road that led to his house. She had driven here many times over the years and knew the turns and short cuts like she did back home. Readjusting her sunglasses she turned down another path. While it made sense to send her. On the flip side it didn't either. As work was something they had never spoke off when they visited each other. It would be hard to convince the man or his wife to return to SGD and aide out Troy and gang. She knew Pooja might refuse as last Kim knew her working relationship with Troy was sluggish at best. How it was today, she didn't know.
Her other problem was HOW she would get him to agree. She had already practiced over and over again in her head. All came down to the only answer her knew in her hearts of hearts. And that was a big fat no. Unless of course the man agreed would be that was something she wasn't considering. If he did, which alone was a long shot, it would really be like old times; working alongside him was something she missed. Her brows frowned as the warm California air hit, she missed being in the front line. Ever since Travis had been officially transferred of to the Vedic Galaxy, she was stuck making command decisions. Then she was there were times she considered calling Troy for advice. Knowing the man was busy most times, disturbing him would be moot. But hey everyone was still alive. That counted for something.
The final leg of her trip landed her at Jerry's house, bringing the car to stop, she got out of it. Taking a moment to adjust her Class A dress of the USAF that she was wearing. She was here as Officer of US armed force rather then his sister. She was mildly amused that they had managed to get this since their first meeting during a mission when she had been assigned to his team. Loyalty and respect had become something of a norm. But both had each others back during a mission. Inhaling she looked at the house and took her steps leading to it's door. A path she knew like a back of her hand. Moving to knock at the door, it stuck her that they all could be well at the beach on the other side of the house. The steps back down, McKinnon took of her shoes, as there was no point in walking in the sand and in them. As she moved closer, she could hear the joyous screams of the kids and which was soon followed by Jerry's deep voice.
"Captain Garcia," she began, "Lt Colonel Kimberly McKinnon, Executive Officer of Delta Expedition. I was wondering if I could have a moment of your time." The look he gave told her two things. One, he wasn't liking the formality, other being this was going to be a long meeting and a visit; and winced when he said nothing but moved inside, leaving her to amble after him.
Yep, this was going to be challenge.
