Homeworld Command
Main article: Homeworld Command (Stargate Wiki)
Homeworld Command (HWC), formerly the Department of Homeworld Security (DHS) and the Office of Homeworld Security, is a United States defence organisation charged with maintaining the security of Earth, and in particular the United States, from extra-terrestial threats and incursions. It provides military oversight to both Stargate Command and Fleet Command.
Homeworld Command is a joint military organisation, functioning similar to a MAJCOM or Unified Combatant Command, and operates primarily out of the Pentagon. The director of Homeworld Command is a 3-star flag officer (lieutenant general or vice admiral) who serves up to two consecutive three year terms. The current commander of HWC is Lieutenant General Albert Reynolds, former team leader of SG-3. Previous commanders include Jack O'Neill (2005-2011) and George Hammond (2004-2005).
While HWC is a US military command, just like Stargate Command and Fleet Command its personnel include civilians and personnel loaned from foreign countries, most often those who are standing members of the IOA.
Role-play history:
Note: all dates below are In-Character (IC).
A Homeworld Command role-play (Stargate Homeworld, or SGHW) first appeared during Season Two of Stargate Delta, and has since been referred to as the Miniseries. Set between December 2006 and January 2007, this special event followed members of the DHS Special Investigations Unit (SIU) as they travelled to Detroit to investigate how a dead Jaffa had turned up in the middle of gang-related violence. Unbeknown to the team they were walking into a trap, and almost killed by twin explosions while following up leads (SGD 'Know Thy Neighbor'). Narrowly escaping the SIU dug deeper, and despite the kidnapping of their team leader, tracked the explosives back to a US Army base in Alabama (SGD 'Exodus'). The team followed the clues back to a private military contractor providing security to the SGC, and traced the conspiracy all the way to the halls of power in Washington, DC (SGD 'Genesis').
A few years ago HWC got it's own site which housed Season One of Stargate Homeworld, set between July and September 2009. Episode One 'Calling Card' followed the adventures of three HWC teams - Hoover, Dulles, and Webster - as they tracked global threats in Saudi Arabia, Colombia, and Colorado Springs. The adventures went off-world in Episode Two 'Unpromised Land', with Hoover Team travelling to Atlantis, Dulles Team deploying to P3X-901, and the 24th Space Deployment Group conducting missions aboard the USS Odyssey. Episode Three 'Breaking Point' saw HWC pursue their enemies across the United States, with a tactical team heading to Missouri and an analysis team tracking targets in Washington, DC.
Season Two of SGHW fast forwarded to March 2015 and featured the construction of the newest SC-306 supercarrier - the USS Thor (SGHW 'Prologue').
