Background Information
Personal History: Born in Newport Beach, Orange County, California on October 31, 1962. Father an American housing developer, mother a singer from Jordan - the two met while he was overseeing a construction project in Amman. Troy was raised at the family home in Newport Beach, Orange County and attended Newport Harbor High School. As the eldest child it was always assumed that he would move into the family business of property development and one day take over the business. In an act of rebellion fuelled by a desire to control his own fate, Troy enlisted in the United States Air Force at age 18 with the intention of serving in special forces.
Upon being recruited as an Airman Basic in 1980, Troy completed 6 weeks of Basic Military Training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas where he graduated top of his class. From here he attended the very demanding and almost two year long PJ training pipeline, in the process becoming airborne, HALO, combat diver, and special forces medic qualified. While the training was the most difficult challenge he'd faced to date, Troy found himself thriving, and upon graduation the now Airman Loveridge posted to the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron in Florida, and had by 1983 had been promoted to Senior Airman. While stationed here he met, fell in love with, and married his wife Ashlee. Although she's originally him to leave the Air Force he couldn't bring himself to do it, and to this end they compromised that he should consider becoming an officer to better help support the family they were planning and move away from front line combat.
Troy applied to, and was accepted as a cadet into, the United States Air Force Academy in 1984. Assigned to Cadet Squadron 22 he undertook four years of military, academic and athletic training, graduating with a major in military and strategic studies. As part of the cadet body he held a number of leadership positions including Group Commander and represented the Academy at varsity swimming. During this time Ashlee gave birth of their son, Trent.
Upon commissioning he was assigned to the 71st Rescue Squadron, and in 1989 saw his first front line action when his squadron was deployed in support of the ground offensive elements of the US invasion of Panama. While on deployment he unfortunately missing the birth of his daughter Brooklyn. Upon returning to the US he completed his Team Commander qualification, and in 1990 was deployed as part of the forward advancement into Iraq, where he remained on duty until the conclusion of the Gulf War in February 1991 as an Assistant Flight Commander. In 1992 he returned to special forces when he was posted as a Flight Commander with the 24th Special Tactics Squadron, and USAF's most elite Battlefield Airman formation. He completed Mission Commander and Instructor qualifications, and by December was deployed as part of Operation Restore Hope, the UN sanctioned invasion of Somalia. During the infamous Battle of Mogadishu, Troy and members of his flight maintained an aerial presence above the battlefield, recovering injured personnel throughout the night. In 1994 he graduated from Squadron Officer School, and was setting himself up for a long career in Air Force Special Forces.
Out of the blue he he was approached by members of the Air Force Space Command in March 1995 and briefed on the Stargate Program. The then Captain Loveridge had hoped to make it onto Colonel O'Neill's off-world team sent the Abydos, but a training injury lead to him not making the cut and he instead served as the SGC's personnel recovery advisor, developing contingency plans for conducting off-world rescue.
After O'Neill's team returned through the gate and the program was shut down Troy attended Air Command and Staff College were he received a Master of Military Operational Art and Science. Upon graduation he was offered a position as Air Officer Commanding at the USAFA for Cadet Squadron 22, the very Squadron he had trained with during his time there. During the 12 months with the 'Raptors' he training the advised the cadets, helping prepare them for a career of military service.
A month before the end of the USAFA academic year, Troy was informed that the Stargate Program had reopened under the command of General Hammond. Once the academic year had concluded he stepped down from AOC and transferred back to the SGC, joining it during its second year of operation. Major - and later Lieutenant Colonel - Loveridge led a number of off-world teams, clocking up numerous hours of gate activity, putting his combat rescue skills to good use while also demonstrating an aptitude for conducting diplomatic and friendship forging missions with alien civilizations.
In 2003 he attended and graduated from Marine Corps War College before transferring to the newly formed Department of Homeworld Security (later Homeworld Command), glad to again be serving under first General Hammond, and then General O'Neill. It was his first taste of DC, and as a staff officer developing policy and recommendations it would have been a perfect opportunity for him to further his career. However, at the time he only saw it as a stepping stone to greater things and failed to make full use of the opportunity.
He returned to the SGC in 2005 and was one of the first assigned to the soon to be launched Delian Expedition. Traveling to a distant galaxy, he served as team leader of SD-1, an exploration and first contact team. He held the post for two and half years, serving alongside men and women who would over time become his dearest friends and living through experiences he still finds hard to explain or describe. During the final year of the expedition he was appointed expedition commander, and constantly grappled with the responsibilities for command, struggling to send his people into dangerous circumstances while he was stuck behind a desk.
Tragedy stuck Colonel Loveridge during the final assault on the Olympian home world, where he lost his mentor General Kepler and revealed that his wife had been killed in a car accident weeks earlier. Unable to make it home for the funeral due to mission planning - and in a large part, guilt from being away from the family for so long - Troy fell out of contact with his daughter who to this day refuses to speak to him. In light of this, the Colonel took nine months personnel leave upon returning from the expedition and dropped off the radar. To this day he reveals very little about what he did or where he was during this time.
Fleet Command underwent a major restructuring in 2009, and Troy was called back to active duty to serve as the director of operations. Faithfully serving in the position for twelve months, he was able to demonstrate to his detractors that he would not let his personnel life or the experiences of the expedition hold him down. In 2010 his first star was pinned on, a day General Loveridge never thought he would see. He remained in Colorado and was assigned to the secretive Stargate Academy, where as commandant he oversaw the training of the next generation of Stargate officers.
Troy returned to DC in 2013 and joined Homeworld Command at The Pentagon as a senior director following his promotion to Major General. In this role he was responsible for developing long terms plans and policy for SGC and Fleet, but perhaps his biggest challenge was adapting to the DC lifestyle. Never before in his life has the people you know been more important than the work you did.

Personality: Troy has a strong sense of right and wrong, and will stand up for the greater good even in the face of orders to the contrary. His work with the SGC and the Expedition was defined by his empathy to other people, even those he has just met, and he was described as having a 'boy scout' approach to justice.
When interacting with others he is friendly and approachable, and counts himself as having many long-term close friends. He sits toward the more introverted end of the social scale, and prefers to company of a few close friends to a room full of strangers, drawing his energy from time spent alone. His chooses to surround himself with a close circle of trusted advisors when making decisions.
Troy is loyal to his teammates and has great concern for their well being, and while that made him a great team leader, as a commander it puts him at a disadvantage. Too often he lets his fears of his friends being harmed control his decisions. Since having his stars pinned on he has demonstrated a long history of hesitation to do what needs to be done, and in extreme cases he can resort to inactivity, a behaviour that can hurt the mission and put lives at risk. This inactivity fuels his fears, in turn making him risk averse - an unfortunate cycle he has been unable to break.
His commitment to the military and the mission knows no boundaries, and while this makes him a good airman, this stubbornness can isolate him. The death of his wife seven years ago clearly demonstrates this - he choose to finish the mission rather than return home. This uncontrollable compulsion to finish what he started pushes him to give his very every waking breath to the mission, a level of commitment he can project onto those around him, expecting them to likewise give up their lives to get to job done.

Obsidian on Sixth apartments
Washington, DCThe sound of a key turned in a lock punctured the otherwise silent apartment. A figure dressed in athletic wear dropped their keys onto a counter next to the door and made straight for the refrigerator, grabbing a cold bottle of water from inside. The light of the refrigerator momentarily let up the darkened kitchen-dining-entertaining area of the small one bedroom apartment, revealing the modern and minimalist furnishing. Returning the bottle to the refrigerator and closing the door the figure headed into the apartments bedroom, stopping only momentarily to deposit their sweat-stained clothes into a laundry hamper.
The light of the bedroom ensuite illuminate the room, presenting Troy Loveridge with his first look at himself since rising. His dark hair, cut short to military standards and sprouting more greys than he could deny, was soaked with sweat from the morning run along the Washington Channel. While the view wasn't as nice as the Potomac River or the Tidal Basin it was a lot less busy, especially at this hour. Troy knew the cliche of the military general assigned to DC who takes morning runs to show he was still in shape. Regardless, the 45 minutes of silence as the foredawn approached was golden, and worth every bit of cheek he coped.
He put himself through a quick shower, dressed into his Air Force blues and headed to the back into kitchen. He turned on the TV as he walked past, and was greeted by the familiar sounds of the two ZNN morning anchors. He'd learned quickly - and the hard way - that it paid to be across the news, even if his work was focused on event beyond this planet. The welcomed smell of the coffee pod machine filling his cup joined the smell of cooked toast, onto which avocado and feta was added. Troy wasn't getting any younger, and while a cooked breakfast would have been his preference for this hour, his MD had recommended he try and eat healthier.
Breakfast was consumed at the dining room table as the sun began to rise over the DC styleline, the silhouette of the Washington Monument becoming clear through the sliding glass doors that led out onto the balcony. Troy's attention was elsewhere, flicking between the latest news reports on the TV and his schedule for today on his smartphone. His morning was already shaping up to be a busy one.
The breakfast dishes were deposited in the dishwasher, and grabbing his briefcase, Troy exited the apartment and locked the door behind him. He called the lift, and after a short descent, walked out of the lobby at street level. As it was everyday, a dark government SUV was waiting out front, into which the general climbed. The car pulled away from the curb and headed toward the Pentagon.
