In July 2005 (SG-1 Season 9, Atlantis Season 2) the SGC uncovered a set of Stargate coordinates during an archaeological dig in Greece, and an expedition was launched to explore the distant Delian Galaxy. Soon after arriving the expedition learns of the Olympians, powerful being who have adopted human appearance and appear to have influenced Greek mythology back on Earth. A temporary above ground compound was constructed to serve as the new home of the expedition.
A fierce war erupted between the expedition and Olympians. The first year of the expedition saw many ups and downs. Enslaved worlds such as Bactra were freed, allies such as the Amazons and Alcarans were met, and a number of Olympians were taken out. These gains were not without cost - beloved members of the expedition were killed in action to ensure the freedoms of others. On the eve of their first anniversary (July 2006) the expedition defended their base against an Olympian war fleet, showing they were a force to be reckoned with.
During their second year of operation (SG-1 Season 10, Atlantis Season 3) the expedition continued to wage war against the Olympians, starting to slowly push them back. In response Athena smuggled herself onto the base in January 2007 and successfully destroyed it with a bomb. The expedition spent the next six months on the run, living out of battle cruisers and temporary bases. In June 2007 they learned that an Ancient city-ship, a quarter of the size of Atlantis, was buried on the planet that once housed their base. The expedition returned to the planet and broke the Olympian blockade, coming to occupy the Lost City of Akrotiri.
During the expedition's third year (Atlantis Season 4) they learned of the existence of the Titans, a race of humanoid robots created to fight the Olympians. Believing they could find common ground, the expedition freed to Titans from Olympian captivity only to learn that they were not to be trusted and also sought galactic dominance. Forced into a two-front war, the expedition now battled both the Olympians and Titans across the Delian Galaxy. In April 2008 they learned the existence of Ambrosia, a mysterious substance which gave the Olympians their powers. It was just the break they needed.
Infiltrating the planet Olympia in July 2008, the expedition destroyed the Ambrosia before killing Zeus and the remaining Olympians gods. The remaining human followers of the Olympians surrendered and have began to build a peaceful society. Knowing their days were numbered the Titans went into hiding and have not been seen since.
Shortly after the Battle of Olympia the expedition was scaled down, with all new personnel and a new commander rotated in. The heroes of the Delian Expedition returned to Earth and began the next chapters of their lives.
